Titanium grade 5 socket set screws also offer light weight, stiffness, and toughness. These socket set screws are resistant to seawater up to 500°F and are shown to last almost two decades in tests of polluted seawater. Additionally, they show no signs of pitting and crevice corrosion even when one mile below the surface. They are also resistant to erosion up to a velocity of 120 feet/second.

Titanium Grade 5 socket set screws are resistant to attack by pure hydrocarbons and most chlorinated and fluorinated hydrocarbons provided there is no acid contamination. They are also fully resistant to solutions of chlorides, hypochlorites, chlorates, perchlorates and chlorine dioxide.

Titanium Grade 5 is 6% aluminum and 4% vanadium.
